It's official... Arsenal's new away kit is a load of rubbish.
The Gunners have unveiled their striking purple and black hooped design - along with a garish bright pink goalkeeper's strip - and revealed that each set of shirt and shorts has been made using up to 13 recycled plastic water bottles
The kit - modelled by Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Song, Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Wojciech Szczesny - is manufactured from Nike's ground-breaking recycled polyester, making it their most environmentally friendly kit ever produced, reducing energy consumption by up to 30 per cent compared to traditional polyester.
While Arsene Wenger's men will no doubt be applauded for doing their bit to help the environment, the reaction to their unusual choice of colour remains to be seen.
It's certainly a far cry from the traditional yellow away kit associated with so many Arsenal triumphs over the years, including the one worn by Michael Thomas when he scored a last-gasp title-winning strike at Anfield in 1989.
