Four venues host premiership ties

Premier soccer league action continues this afternoon as eight teams will be in action at four venues across Mainland Tanzania.

Of the eight teams pace makers Young Africans will be spared as they gear up for their clash against Azam at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

 

Holders Simba have traveled all the way to Mbeya where they are lined up against hosts Tanzania Prisons in a match most of the premiership fans will be closely monitoring.

Azam FC will be at their base in Chamazi as visitors of troubled JKT Ruvu seeking to close the three-point gap created by the pacemakers Yanga.

 

Coastal Union are back at their base in Tanga where they are expected to entertain visiting JKT Oljoro at the Mkwakwani Stadium.

 

In Mwanza the match will involve two relegation haunted teams of Toto Africa and African Lyon who are visitors.

 

 Bottom of the table Lyon with paltry nine points will be seeking to fight against an imminent relegation shockwave, same as their hosts who have 14 points.

A win by Toto might lift them outside of the dreadful zone while praying for JKT Ruvu to falter at Chamazi.

 

Lyon will still be floating in the relegation pool regardless of the outcome of the match. Nine points are not enough to close on the gap and leapfrog into safe horizon with three points more.

 

Trailing Simba by just a point, Coastal Union might claim s third spot in the standings table should they post a win over their visitors while praying for the holders samba to falter in Mbeya.

 

Crisis looms wide for holders Simba in case they fail to impress in Mbeya as their title retention bid will suffer a huge blow.

 

Archrivals Yanga will be following the match in Mbeya and Chamazi with tenacious zeal to weigh their possibility of widening the gap at the top of the standings table with a match in hand on Saturday.

 

 Both samba and Azam will be playing today’s matches with massive tension as any slip up would be detrimental at this stage of the league. Azam bank heavily on their Cote d’Ivoire’s import Kipre Tcheche to score as the player has of late been highly productive and prolific upfront.

 

Simba fans and members who have been disappointed by the team’s slack performance both in the domestic league and CAF Champions League are likely to cause some trouble if the team drop points in their Southern Highland entourage.

 

 Simba lost to visiting Angolan outfit Libolo FC over the weekend, the result that highlights a possible early exit should they fail to score in Luanda in two week’s time.’
