Footballer Jermain Defoe is about to become a father after his ex-girlfriend Anne-Marie Moore fell pregnant.
The former couple are expecting a boy in the New Year after briefly rekindling their romance earlier this year.
The 29-year-old England football star, who was dumped by Alexandra Burke in May after he allegedly cheated on the singer, got back together with Anne-Marie soon after.
Although Jermain and Anne-Marie are no longer an item, notorious ladies’ man Jermain will reportedly stick by her side and help support the baby.
A source close to the Tottenham Hotspurs striker told The Mirror: ‘Jermain plans to be fully involved in the child's life. He has been going to the scans and will do everything he can to support the child financially and emotionally.’
Anne-Marie, 31, revealed her pregnancy two weeks ago when she posted a picture of her baby scan on Facebook.
She said: ‘There is such a special sweetness in being able to participate in creation of life. It's a Boy...Mummies lips and Daddies head!’
A pal of Anne-Marie revealed that the couple were always close, but that they had a ‘stormy’ relationship, calling it quits on their romance once they realised that life was leading them in separate paths.
he friend said: "They continued to see each other. Anne-Marie felt herself getting close to him again and wanted more so she started to play hard to get. He became more -interested and pursued her. Then she fell pregnant.'
It’s been a tough few months for the footballer – in June his father Jimmy passed away from throat cancer and just one month later his 20-year-old cousin Hannah died in an accident in St Lucia.
Anne-Marie has reportedly grown close to Jermain’s family over the joyful news – with his sister in particular congratulating her on the revelation.
Jermain’s spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by Mail Online.
