Roman Abramovich will review Rafa Benitez’s position as Chelsea’s interim manager after gauging supporter reaction at Saturday’s clash with West Bromwich.
Benitez infuriated fans by criticising them moments after his side had secured an FA Cup quarter-final with Manchester United by beating Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Riverside on Wednesday night.
More than 1,900 loyal supporters were stunned by his attack after making the 500-mile round trip on a week night to watch their team against Championship opposition, and he is sure to face a hostile response at Stamford Bridge.
